Table-toppers Liverpool face-off against Chelsea for the second time in the space of four days as they look to continue their winning form.
The Blues continue their transformation under Maurizio Sarri, as they came from behind to win 2-1 against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in midweek, courtesy of some individual brilliance by Eden Hazard.
Jurgen Klopp got a taste of Sarriball in midweek, as the deep lying playmaker, Cesc Fabregas was putting in dangerous balls towards Alvaro Morata and threatening an unorganized Liverpool defense. During the second half Sadio Mane was assigned the task to mark Fabregas, which he did brilliantly and took Fabregas out of the equation. The Reds will try do the same with Jorginho, which would stop him from dictating the tempo of the match, then Liverpool can press them high up the field.
Maurizio Sarri has made some tactical tweaks while setting up his drills in training sessions after his side was reported having a “lack of creativity” in midfield following their goalless draw against West Ham. Sarri did his homework, as we saw Kovacic and Barkley easily breaking through the midfield line of Liverpool with some brilliant one-touch passing, making those forward runs and providing opportunities for the wingers.
Both sides are expected to start in a 4-3-3 formation while shifting to a 4-4-2/4-5-1 defensively.
Chelsea main man Eden Hazard has been in unstoppable form this season as we saw some glimpses of that in midweek. Eden Hazard currently sits on top of the list in the Premier League with 5 goals and 2 assists to his name, averaging a goal every 79 minutes. With Olivier Giroud and the returning Pedro likely to start alongside him in attack, Hazard hopes to continue his tremendous form this weekend.
Liverpool have their own gem in Mo Salah. Salah had a record-breaking 2017-18 season with 44 goals in all competitions, as well as winning the Premier League Golden Boot. With his blistering pace and ability to get behind defenders, Salah is very lethal on counter-attacks. With Marcos Alonso moving forward during attacks, there will be lots of opportunities on the right.
Maurizio Sarri revealed in his press conference that Antonio Rüdiger, Pedro and Ruben Loftus-cheek are back in training but remain doubtful for the match.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso and Olivier Giroud are expected to start after they were rested in midweek.
Jurgen Klopp revealed in his press conference that Virgil Van Dijk remains a doubt while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum are fit to face Chelsea.
Allison Becker is expected to start at goal and Andy Robertson will make his comeback after he was rested in midweek.
The Forward trio of Salah Firmino Mane are expected to lead the line for the Reds.
Liverpool and Chelsea both are unbeaten this season in the Premier League – along with Manchester City.
Liverpool have failed to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea for 17 matches across all competitions. The last one being a 2-0 win for the Merseyside in 29 November 2011 in the League Cup.
Chelsea and Liverpool meet for the 58th time in all competitions since the start of the 2000s, making it the most played English fixture over that period.
The Blues have had an impressive start to their Premier League campaign winning 5 out of 6 games. They are one of the remaining three teams that are yet to face defeat in the Premier League this season ( the other two being Liverpool and Manchester City). They currently sit on 3rd in the league table.

It’s round two for Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday evening when they go head to head for the second time in four days. This game will feature their full strength teams, so expect many different players to what we saw on Wednesday, although there is no doubt Chelsea will have received a little boost ahead of the game by winning that first encounter.
Liverpool have won every league game so far, and with their front three installed back into the team, as well as their first choice defence I think they can continue that run. Liverpool have shown strength at both ends of the pitch so far, and rely heavily on their top players. With these back in the team, with the form they have shown so far, I think they can go to Stamford Bridge and win.
One player who scored a wonder goal on Wednesday was Eden Hazard and I have him down to find the scoresheet again on Saturday. He is the heartbeat of Chelsea’s attacking play, and after scoring such a goal he should be on cloud nine so I’m backing him to get another.
As far as a correct score goes, with Chelsea looking likely to score a goal, I’m backing Liverpool to record a 2-1 success over their rivals. Both teams will get chances to score in this game, so 2-1 looks to be in with a shout on Saturday.
